The Numismatic Collection of the Regional Historical Museum at Kyustendil |
A catalogue was published: The Numismatic Collection of the Regional Historical Museum at Kyustendil (Ancient Ulpia Pautalia). Part I: Greek, Thracian, Macedonian, Roman Republican and Roman Provincial Coins. The collection is the second volume of the Coin Collections and Coin Hoards from Bulgaria /CCCHBulg/. The first one includes the numismatic collections of the history museums of Lovech (ancient Melta) and Razgrad (ancient Abritus). What is essential for museum collections in Bulgaria is the fact that have been collecting their numismatic samples from the territory they were in charge of according the Bulgarian legislation. This means that the collections have been developed according chronological order and in this way they are presented in the issue. Firstly, the single coins are listed according to the order they were obtained in the museum’s fund and then come the collective coin hoards accompanied by brief information regarding their discovering and dating. The authors of the present catalogue have the pleasure of announcing in volume two of the series CCCHBulg the publication for the first time of several exceptionally interesting monetary treasures discovered within the territory of today’s South-west Bulgaria that in the Roman times were administered by the city of Pautalia.
