Regional History Museum “Academician Yordan Ivanov” presents the photo-documentary exhibition “Kyustendil and the First World War”. The exhibition is displayed at the Strimon exhibition hall situated in the museum yard. It was opened on 27th of November 2012.
The exhibition was elaborated within the cross-border project “Transforming the Lines of Division into a Point of Cohesion” of Municipality of Kyustendil (Bulgaria) and Municipality of Doyran (FYR of Macedonia) co-financed by European Union through the Bulgaria-FYR of Macedonia Cross-Border Programme, CCI number 2007CB16IPO007. Thematically, it presents separate moments of the numerous important events that took place in Kyustendil and of the soldiers’ lives at the Doyran front. The connection between the battlefield positions and the Headquarters in practice was possible due to the frequent meetings between General N. Zhekov and the staff and the commanders of the First Army and the Ninth Pleven Division – the generals Stefan Nerezov, Dimiter Geshov and Vladimir Vazov.
